Comparison

BoxBrownie alternative: MakeProp compared on price, speed and scope

The short answer

MakeProp stages a room in minutes for a fraction of US$30 per image, and includes MLS copy and a listing video in the same subscription. BoxBrownie gives you a human editing team, unlimited free revisions for two months, and services MakeProp doesn’t offer at all — floor plans, 360° tours, day-to-dusk. Pick on fit, not on price alone.

No card required. BoxBrownie prices checked 20 October 2026 on their pricing page.

Price per staged image

BoxBrownie and MakeProp published prices compared

Virtual stagingUS$30 per image1 credit — about 29¢–33¢ per image
Photo enhancementUS$2 per image2 credits from the same balance

Billing modelPer job, pay as you goMonthly subscription with a credit allowance

How to read the MakeProp figure. MakeProp does not sell staging as a standalone per-image purchase. Staging costs 1 credit, and 29¢–33¢ is the effective cost of a credit when a plan’s monthly allowance is used in full — 33¢ on Agent ($39 for 120 credits) down to 29¢ on Power ($129 for 450 credits). Use fewer credits than your plan grants and your real per-image cost is higher. Every number here is derived from the same price list the app charges from.

Turnaround

BoxBrownie

Advertises a 48 hours turnaround for virtual staging and a 24 hours guarantee for image enhancement, with editors working around the clock.

MakeProp

Returns a staged image in the same working session — minutes, not days. You review each result before using it, and your original photo is always kept.

What you give up by switching

These are real advantages BoxBrownie has over MakeProp. If any of them matters to the listing in front of you, they are the better choice for it.

  • Unlimited free revisions

BoxBrownie includes unlimited changes at no extra cost within two months of the original job. On MakeProp, each additional staging option costs 1 more credit.

  • A human editing team

Their work is produced by editors against your brief. MakeProp generates the image and you are the reviewer.

  • Floor plans and 360° tours

BoxBrownie sells 2D and 3D floor plan redraws and virtual tours. MakeProp does neither.

  • Day-to-dusk, item removal, aerial and portrait editing

A much broader editing catalogue than MakeProp offers.

What you get that BoxBrownie doesn’t sell

  • MLS copy, headline and social captions

BoxBrownie prices copywriting separately from US$35 per description. MakeProp generates it from the same credit balance.

  • A listing video from the same photos

Both a vertical social cut and a widescreen listing video, generated from the photos you already uploaded.

  • A Listing Score before you publish

A 0–100 read on the listing with specific things to improve, so you know what is weak before buyers see it.

  • A shareable Property Package

One link holding the photos, details and video — with virtually staged images labelled as such.

Try both free

BoxBrownie’s free trial covers three image enhancements and one day-to-dusk edit — it does not include virtual staging. MakeProp’s free tier is 15 credits, which at 1 credit per staged image is up to 15 staged rooms. Neither needs a card, so the honest way to decide is to run the same room through both.

Which should you choose?

Choose MakeProp if

You list regularly, per-image fees add up, and you want the photos, the copy, the video and a shareable package to come out of one workflow — with results back the same day you upload.

Choose BoxBrownie if

You have one listing that needs several rounds of furniture changes with a human designer, or you need a floor plan, a 360° tour or a day-to-dusk edit. Their unlimited-revision model is built for exactly that and MakeProp is not.

Questions

Is AI staging as good as a human designer?
They are different products and we have not run a comparative study, so we are not going to claim a winner. What we can tell you is how MakeProp works: furnishing and decor change, the room is what every generation is built to preserve, you review each result before using it, and your original photo is always kept.
Can I use virtually staged photos on the MLS?
Usually yes, with disclosure — but the rules differ by MLS and by state, and some require the original unaltered photo alongside the staged one. Check your own MLS rules before publishing. MakeProp labels staged images as virtually staged and keeps your originals.
What if I don't like the staged result?
Generate another option in the same style for 1 credit. There is no revision queue and no waiting — but it is not free, which is the trade against BoxBrownie’s included revisions.
Do you do floor plans or 360° virtual tours?
No. If you need either, BoxBrownie sells both and MakeProp does not.
Is there a contract?
No. Plans are monthly and you can cancel from your settings; everything you have already generated stays yours. See the refund policy.
