Virtual Staging AI alternative: MakeProp compared on cost, scope and limits
The short answer
Both stage rooms with AI. At $39 a month Virtual Staging AI gives you 60 photos; the same $39 on MakeProp is 120 credits, and staging costs 1. They are faster on paper, they remove furniture and their re-renders are unlimited — MakeProp is none of those things. What MakeProp adds is the rest of the listing.
No card required. Virtual Staging AI prices and features checked 2 November 2026 on their pricing page.
What $39 a month buys
Their published tiers, and the MakeProp plan at the same price.
| Their plan | Per month | Photos | Their per-photo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $16 | 6 | $2.67 |
| Standard | $19 | 20 | $0.95 |
| Professional | $39 | 60 | $0.65 |
| Enterprise | $79 | 150 | $0.53 |
| At $39/month | Virtual Staging AI | MakeProp |
|---|---|---|
| Plan | Professional | Agent |
| What you get | 60 photos a month | 120 credits a month |
| Staged image costs | $0.65 (their figure) | 1 credit |
| Staged images possible | 60 | up to 120, if every credit goes to staging |
| Credits also pay for | — | photo enhancement (2), another staging option (1), listing video (50 per format) |
Read the MakeProp column carefully. Staging costs 1 credit, but the 120-credit allowance is shared across every feature — enhancing a photo costs 2, a listing video costs 50 per format. “Up to 120 staged images” is therefore a ceiling that only holds if you spend the whole allowance on staging and nothing else. The effective 29¢–33¢ per staged image likewise assumes the plan’s credits are used in full — 33¢ on Agent ($39 for 120 credits) down to 29¢ on Power ($129 for 450 credits). Use fewer credits than your plan grants and your real per-image cost is higher.
Where Virtual Staging AI wins
These are real advantages, taken from their own pages. If any of them is what your work needs, they are the better tool for it.
Faster, by their published numbers
Their pricing page advertises a "10 sec turnaround"; their homepage says listing-ready photos arrive "in just 15 seconds". MakeProp returns a staged image in the same working session — minutes, not seconds.
Furniture removal, on every plan
They describe removing existing furniture and adding new furniture in one step. MakeProp does not currently offer furniture removal — if you need it, this is a genuine reason to choose them.
Unlimited renders and downloads
Every one of their tiers includes it. On MakeProp, generating another option for the same room costs 1 more credit. For a room you expect to re-render many times, their model is simply better.
Storage, API and account support
Image storage forever from Standard up, a success manager from Professional up, and API access on Enterprise. MakeProp publishes no equivalent storage guarantee and has no public API.
They are also a dedicated staging product, which is its own advantage: narrower focus, deeper staging-specific control.
What MakeProp adds beyond the staged image
MakeProp also includes MLS copy, Listing Score, listing video and a shareable Property Package — capabilities not listed on Virtual Staging AI’s public pricing page.
MLS copy, headline and captions
Written from the listing's own facts, with a Fair Housing pass applied to the result before you see it.
A Listing Score before you publish
A 0–100 read on the listing, with specific things to improve while you can still change them.
A listing video from the same photos
A vertical social cut and a widescreen listing video, generated from the photos already uploaded.
A shareable Property Package
One link holding the photos, the details and the video, with virtually staged images labelled as such.
If your comparison is against a human editing service rather than another AI tool, the BoxBrownie comparison covers that trade-off instead.
Free, before you pay
MakeProp’s free tier is 15 credits. At 1 credit per staged image that is up to 15 staged rooms, with no card.
Virtual Staging AI is harder to summarise fairly, so here is exactly what their pages say. Their pricing page lists no free staging plan — only a “Free image editing trial included” on every tier. Their homepage offers “Upload image for free” with “No sign up | No credit card”. Neither page states how many images that covers, or whether the result carries a watermark — their paid tiers all say “No watermark”. We are not going to guess on their behalf; run a room through both and judge the output yourself.
Which should you choose?
Choose MakeProp if
Staging is one step in a listing rather than the whole job, and you want the copy, the score, the video and a shareable package to come from the same place — with the month’s budget spread across all of it instead of counting photos.
Choose Virtual Staging AI if
Staging is the job. You need furniture removed from occupied rooms, you re-render rooms repeatedly until they are right, or you want an API. They do those; MakeProp does not.
